Clinton Goes to Bat for Obama and Party - USATODAY.com

advertisement

Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton has raised more than $8 million for former rival Barack Obama's presidential campaign since July and plans to barnstorm the country for even more cash, as the New York senator works to show she is aggressively helping the candidate who cut short her White House bid.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

The former first lady said in the interview late Friday that her goal is straightforward: "We have a lot to repair in America, and I believe that Democratic leadership is essential to fixing the damage that we are going to inherit."

I agree with her, this is a huge mess the GOP has made, probably the worst mess since the Great Depression and I feel sorry for Barack in the sense that it's going to take a lot of work to un-do the damage Bush, Cheney, McCain and cronies have done over the last 8 years.

How about that Hillary, she didn't need to use "aw shucks or gosh darn" to get us to like and respect her.  Many people may not like her, but you can't deny the lady has class.

Why doesn't she attack Palin?  It would make sense to me since Obama and Biden can't come off as bullies for picking on Palin.  I just wish Hillary attacked her and wiped that smirk off her face.

It would be short, bloody, and counter-productive.  There is no need to attack her, the person to cause the most criticism of Palin is Palin.  She's nuts, she is running a different campaign than McCain, and the more she talks the more people realize that "lipstick on a pig" thing wasn't necessarily unwarranted.--Though I would refrain from insulting pigs with the comparison.

This is good news, indeed.

The GOP solution to this mess would be to slap business lightly on the wrist and scold poor people for being fiscally irresponsible.

Although I agree with you in a sense, due in part to the fact that i find it completely annoying that she feels she's worthy of VP... I think that there is still good to take from the Palin pick.  She has shown an inadequacy on the part of McCain's decision making, and continues to prove that she is beyond unqualified to be POTUS.  I think it was so obvious that her appointing was a pander that ended up hurting McCain, and then her brain and mouth did the rest...Sarah Palin has hurt the GOP, and been a tremendous blessing in disguise for Obama. And also, there was no better pick for VP than Joe Biden, and he proved that beyond a doubt in his incredible debate performance.

Stephen,   I think your response is insightful. Absolutely, McCain did the Democratic party a favor in choosing this inept, embarrassing woman. He made a fool of himself and continues to reinforce this with unleashing her as the chief mud-thrower. As I mentioned in another blog, she is a political prostitute. They are using her and she is blinded by her power hunger and ambition. It's really kind of sad.

I am so glad the Clintons, particularly Hilary, are being so supportive of Sen. Obama and Joe Biden. These four people have a tremendous amount of class and intelligence neither of which are evident on the Republican ticket.

WHEN IT COMES DOWN TO IT THIS ELECTION CANNOT BE BASED ON MAKING HISTORY.

WHETHER YOUR BLACK, WHITE, MAN, WOMAN, DEMOCRAT, REPULICAN WHO CARES.

IF WE DO NOT CHOOSE WISELY WE WILL MAKE OUR OWN HISTORY WHETHER IT BE SUFFERING ECONOMICS, OR THE THREAT OF FORIEGN COUNTRIES AND THE RISK OF BEING ATTACKED AGAIN THE AMOUNT OF LIVES WE LOST ON 9/11 IN 1 DAY AND THE AMOUNT OF LIVES WE HAVE LOST OFF OUR TURF IN THE MIDDLE EAST IN 6 YEARS IS VERY CLOSE.

TRULY SPEAKING I BELIEVE THAT WE AS A COUNTRY ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO OVERCOME ANY ECONOMIC CRISIS WE HAVE DONE IT BEFORE AND IT WAS WORSE THAN, WE CANNOT ALLOW THE NUMBERS ON WALL STREET DISCOURAGE US AS THESE ARE RESULTS IN THE MARKET AND THE BANKS GETTING THE HELP THEY WANTED IN THE FORM OF A FAST BLANK CHECK. JUST REMEMBER WHOM EVER WE VOTE FOR SHOULD THEY WIN AND SHOULD THEY FAIL ARE WILLING TO LOOK IN THE MIRROR OR LOUDLY BE ABLE TO ADMIT WE CHOSE THE RIGHT PERSON DESPITE OF IT OR COURSE NOT. IF ALL GOES WELL I THINK WE WOULD, BUT IF IT DON'T ARE REALLY ARE WE.......

FELLOW AMERICANS CHOOSE WISELY FOR THE COUNTRY NOT FOR HISTORY.....

jerry orlando, it's hard to read text in all caps. I read what you wrote, with difficulty, and after I finished, I wondered why I read it because you really didn't add any value to this conversation. Like your candidates, you're fighting a losing battle because you have nothing to back up your claims other then you're a racist. I know you''re going to defend your position, without facts, of course, but after learning about McCain's none health care plan, his voting against the betterment of financial security for the vets, you know the ones who wear the uniforms and go into battle and die to keep us safe, you'd come to your senses and put emotions aside and do what's right.

There is no comparison between Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton, the fisrt lady and Palin,

She has class of her own, Palin does not. If it`s not Pig on Lipstick, it`s Obama and terrorists when Obama was 8 years old, if it`s not praying for witchcraft with Pastor Muthee in Alaska, it`s about confessing that she does not know what a VP does in the White House.

American deserves more that a former mayor of 7000 people in a small town in Alaska.

Palin has proven to millions of Americans that she is out of touch and has no idea of what`s going on in American today.

She is more dangerous than Dick Cheyney 10 folds.

No one is worse then Dick Cheney. Cheney is crafty and he plans his attacks. Palin doesn't think, she speaks from the top of her head. I wouldn't want to be cornered in a dark alley with Cheney because he truly scares me. Palin is a fool who's signed up to be the court's jester.

Congrats to Hillary for going to bat for Obama.  In this fast paced world we forget how hard fought the primaries were.  I give her credit for realizing how high the stakes are, and going out and raising money and campaigning for Sen. Obama.    Thank you Sen. Clinton for your support in this candidacy for change!

I am glad to see that Hilary is coming out to support the dems.

She understands that this is not about personalities it is about getting folks in place that turn things around for America.

Not about things that happened 20 years ago.....

We need to get things back on track now and Hilary is just the woman to help make that happen.

Jerry you can speak by all means just lay off the caps lock button...obviously you were born under a rock and have no clue that yelling in person or on the internet is just rude.

Jerry, I am a single mother. My former husband was Navy and paid the ultimate price during the 1st Gulf War. My cousin is in his 3 tour not only in Iraq but Afghanistan, and I lost 3 friends on 9/11. My father has Alzheimers, I had to rent out my house and move back in with my parents to save my home and to help my parents.

Do you see me yelling? No because despite it all I have dignity, restraint and I know that to yell means to weaken myself and my point.

You are not unique Jerry. We all have our crosses to bear and being rude is just being rude...not special or entitled.

Get off the caps lock.
